Childminder Website

I get lots of Childminders asking how to get a Website like mine.

This was all new to me so I will break this down to make it easier for someone who is learning.

  1. Think of a name for your Childminding Business
  2. Check if the domain name is available using the Domain Name SearchDomain Name Search
  3. If the domain name is available then click on the box next to domain name you are going to buy and it will be added to the basket. FastVision are the cheapest for domain name registrations at £2.99 a year.
  4. Follow the checkout procedure (which is easy) using Fastvision and then you own the domain name and have an account with FastVision which makes the next step easy. Remember you now own the domain name for the period you have paid for and this has to be paid for in 12 months or 24 months. It is £2.99 a year for .co.uk domain names like mine. FastVision automatically renew the domain name unless you don’t want them to to prevent you forgetting and loosing the domain name. It is good to buy it the domain name now even if you are not able to purchase hosting at this point in time.
  5. Now you need hosting for your website. Go to the Hosting page of FastVision and purchase a Lite Hosting package which is £3.99 a month (unless they have changed it). To do this click “Buy Now” and you will see options here.
  6. Now to save you some money where it says “Enter your FastVision gift code” you can enter “Chameleon” and this will give you 10% off. This makes the hosting cost £58.19 a year. This is the cheapest hosting for a website like mine as you need a database for the website. There are cheaper options but these don’t have a database. FastVision are based in Cheltenham and have UK staff so if you need help this is an added advantage.
  7. Now contact Chameleon Web Services and go to the contact form. Enter your details and put in the form that you want a website like Emma The Childminder and they will know what you want. Chameleons website prices vary but they should do you a site for less than £300 which means you have a complete website for £400 maximum which will bring you clients rather than advertising in places.
